Welcome to the Summer 2012 (Totally Not Official in Any Way) Tumblr Reread of FayJay’s The Student Prince.
If you’ve never read The Student Prince, or TSP, here is the quick and dirty summary:
A Modern day Merlin AU set at the University of St Andrews, featuring teetotal kickboxers, secret wizards, magnificent bodyguards of various genders, irate fairies, imprisoned dragons, crumbling gothic architecture, arrogant princes, adorable engineering students, stolen gold, magical doorways, attempted assassination, drunken students, shaving foam fights, embarrassing mornings after, The Hammer Dance, duty, responsibility, friendship and true love…
It’s a staple to the Merlin fandom, and Merlin/Arthur shippers, especially. It’s also a whopping 145k words and 35 chapters. However, since the new series of Merlin is a ways off, we think a reread of one of the most popular fics in the fandom is in order.
Every day, for 35 days, we will feature one chapter of TSP. On that day, we encourage everyone who is interested to make fanart, fanvideos, manips, photosets, etc., relating to the content of that particular chapter and tag it #TSP reread and we’ll reblog all the posts onto this blog for all the fans to enjoy.
The first chapter will be featured one week from now, on July 10. We’ll put up a schedule so you can follow along with everything or only pop in for your favorite chapters. You can read along on AO3 (or on whatever site you please) or listen along with the podfic.
We’ll be working to get the kinks sorted out before July 10 and will post updates here. And of course, if you have never read TSP before, now is a great time to do it! Or we hope it is!
